Born into the Hippodom - hippo in Cologne Zoo

The hippo bull born at Cologne Zoo at the end of May can now be seen. Visitors can observe it daily in the morning from 9 to 12 o'clock (continuously and independently of the weather) on the inside plant and from 14 to 17.30 o'clock (with suitable weather conditions) in the outdoor area of the hippodrome. In between, the young and mother are briefly behind the scenes.

If the temperatures are unexpectedly too cold in the afternoon, the zoo will not be able to show the still cold-sensitive young bull in the time between 14:00 and 17:30, exceptionally well. He then remains at this time in the non-visible areas. Father "Albert" and aunt "Afro" are moving in reverse rhythm on the outdoor and indoor facilities - in the Hippodom so are constantly seeing hippos for the visitors.

Note: The Hippodom closes for organizational reasons currently exceptionally at 17.30 clock and thus a quarter of an hour earlier than usual. All other animal houses in the Cologne Zoo have as usual until 17.45 clock on. The zoo has opened the entire Pentecost days.
